Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Illinois

life insurance beneficiary

My ex husband died and left a life insurance policy naming a girlfriend beneficiary. My divorce settlement de

ignates me as the irrevocable beneficiary until all financial obligations were fulfilled. Then said policy was to be maintained for our kids until all collee loans paid. Ijust found out about these policies and I am sure the have been

paid to his girlfriend. Is there any legal recourse? The student loans are over 100k.

Re: life insurance beneficiary

Yes, there is. You didn't say when your ex-husband died or whether he owned anything at the time of his death. Why are you "sure" the death benefit has been paid to the girlfriend?

If you would like a no obligation consultation visit us at www.legacylaws.com and call for an appointment. I will need:

1. The Judgment for Dissolution of Marriage including the Marital Settlement Agreement, if any; and

2. Death certificate, and;

3. Inventory of all assets he died with, and;

4. Name of the life insurance company involved and the amount of the death benefit.

We look forward to your call. Please refer to this post when you call.
