Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Illinois

I now lost both of my parents in 17 months. My parents have a will. what is the next step I need to take? Does it go to probate? and what exactly is probate?

I'm sorry for your loss.

It doesn't go to probate automatically. Someone needs to take step to start that process, if appropriate. I would recommend taking the original will, along with any information that you have on assets and debts, to a probate attorney to discuss the best steps for you to take.
