Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Illinois

Oath & Bond of Representative-Surety

My mom died in 2001 intestate. She was a widow and I am an only child. The home we shared is now in foreclosure. I was told by the mortgage company to provide them with a letter of administation. I filed a petition for a letter of administration and was given a court date. There is a form called the oath & bond of representative-surety that I must present to the court. I have the form, but what is it and how much will it cost to have it completed.

Re: Oath & Bond of Representative-Surety

First there are more forms to present to the judge than just the oath and bond. In the letters of administration you stated the total value of the personal property of the estate. The bond you must purchase is 150% of the value stated on the petition. The premium is probably 5% of that but talk to a bondsman at the cook county probabte court. You will find them on the 12th floor of Daley Center. I assume this is a cook county matter based on your zip code. You really need a lawyer.
