order to compel production of documents

what does order to compel production of documents mean in a probate case that has been open for over a year??

It means just what it says. One party in the probate case is trying to obtain some type of documents and the party who has those documents has not produced them so now there is an order compeling the production of the documents (if they exist) If the party fails to produce the documents then the court can hold them in contempt and issue a fine or even jail time.
