Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Illinois

How do I get permission to transfer funds for minors

I have legal guardianship of my children and have money that only the court can release to transfer. It is currently in a CD and I want permission to invest the money in a house for my children. What do I have to do to get the money released by the court? Do I file a motion with the court?

Yes (I think it's by petition but that's a technical difference).

If you want to do this by yourself, if this is Cook County the Probate Clerk is on the 12th floor. They'll give you the forms and tell you where to go to get a date. Be sure to provide a good written explanation, including that title will be taken in the name of the kids, and a draft order. Whether it will be allowed I can't say.
