Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Illinois

Power of Attorney

My father has moderate to severe alzheimer's and my mother was recently incapacitated by a stroke. she is some what better and can make decisions. My mother, sister and I would like to get a power of attorney before another stroke. Can my sister and I be named as agents for my mother? Since my father has alzheimer's, can we get a POA for him? We will be going to a local lawyer to get the final papers.

If your father has alzheimere's you will have to be appointed guardian by a judge. He can't knowingly give you power of attorney.
