Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Illinois

property

I am 65 and would like to give my children the 2 acres of land which I live on .I live in a trailer and they also live in the house on that land. How do I go about signing it over to them without giving up my rights to live on it? I can't afford a lawyer, but would like to leave it to them just so they would not every have to lose there home if something happens to me. Thank you for any answer you could give me.--name removed--

Re: property

You really need to consult with an attorney in your area. Heck, you're doing this for your children, make them pay for it. There are a number of different ways this could be done, and there are a number of problems which would need to be addressed. I'm not sure where in IL you're located, but I would be surprised if a real estate attorney couldn't handle this for a couple hundred dollars. Trust me, if you try to do this on your own, it will likely cost more, maybe much more, than the couple hundred bucks in the long run.
