I am about to recieve a large award form a malpractice law suit.However i am a vet and recieving disabiity.How will my pension be affected and can i establish a trust

for my grand children and purchase property for them.

Your disability payments may be affected depending upon their source. The award will probably not impact any payments that you receive from a pension that was earned for service as an employee of a company.

You can certainly set up a Trust that leaves gifts to your grandchildren, or to anyone else that you feel is appropriate. Depending upon the amount of your benefits and the amount of the award, you may consider establishing a "Special Needs" Trust to minimize the impact of the award on your income.
