about shifting house at US

i'am staying in India.My husband had taken a rental house at US on OCT 2008.After 1 month his friend joined along with him and added his name also in the agreement.Nw am planning to stay with him.But now his friend is not allowing him to shift the house nor he is shifting.His friend now telling that my husband can't change the room until april 2009. If he'll move,then he'll approach a lawyer.Is there any validity in this approach? Please answer my question as we are not having any legal knowledge at US.So kindly reply the answer.

no one can be compelled to stay with anyone despite having a contract. at the most your husband would have to pay for the remaining period's share of his rent and he can shift anywhere he wants...with you.

Hello.

You may contact the landlord/estate broker through which your husband has rented the house.

You may intimate the landlord by a post or mail about the facts and let him know that you are shifting to a new house.

April 2009 is not too away and matter can be settled amicably waiting till agreed date.

Your husband is at liberty to cancel the lease and move anywhere he may like. There may be some financial liability towards notice period etc. as per the rent agreement.
