Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Illinois

Sneaky Stepmom selling my daddy's house

The house is completely empty. How do I have the state recognize myself and my sisters as legal heirs to my fathers estate before the house is sold? Her name is not on the deed and the house was paid for after his death. He did not leave a will. Her attorny informed her that house was supposed to be split 50/50.

If he did not have a will, then yes, the "sneaky stepmom" is entitled to a share of his estate. Your father obviously thought enough of this woman to make her his wife. You might try thinking less about money and more about seeing what your father saw in her. She could probably use some emotional support just as you and your sisters do.
