Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Illinois
Supervised Executor
In a Supervised Executor situation, how easy or hard is it to change lawyers for the estate? Nothing has been sold yet, ie; property, household items, etc. In fact, it's really stalled, not much has been done at all. Thanks.

It can be rather easy to change lawyers, if the current lawyer doesn't make it difficult by not wanting to withdraw.
The court has to grant permission for your current lawyer to withdraw. He will need to file a "Motion to Withdraw" which will then be approved/not approved by the judge.
The easiest way to facilitate the process is to find another attorney that is willing to "substitute in" on the case. The court is usually more accepting of a substitution of lawyers since it doesn't leave the estate without a lawyer while another is being found.
Good luck to you.
