What is a common attorney fee for handling a simple trust? Is a flat fee or hourly rate the norm?

Wow...that really begs the question on who is going to prepare it. You should expect in general that the large law firms to charge you an hourly rate and the smaller firms will charge a flat fee. Again, this is a generalization. In Florida, trust preparation fees will range from 1500 to 3500 and up. You may find it cheaper and you may find it more expensive but the quality of the trust document or the type of the document you get may reflect the price. In the world of trusts there are many types depending on what your are attempting to accomplish. A simple trust would suggest a single A trust with no tax language with the sole objective to avoid probate (maybe). I would highly recommend consulting an experienced estate planning attorney that focuses a significant part of his practice in this area. Hope this helps.
