Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Illinois

Waive All Rights To Property

Because of personal reasons my wife wants to relinquish/waive all her rights to ''all'' property in her father's will (he's in Illinois). There are several other adult siblings. How would she go about this? Would a simple letter to him stating she ''waives/relinquishes'' all rights to any inheritance work? Thank you.

No, I do not think that will work. Your wife needs to convince her father to write a codicil to his will and disinherit her. There is another way. If she is mentioned in his will and he refuses to remove her, after his death he she can disclaim any interest in his estate. Telling him now is not the answer unless the father acts on her request while he is alive.
