Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Illinois

My wife recently passed with credit card debt and medical bills in her name only. She had no assets in her name but left myself and her children some life insurance money. Am I legally responsible for this debt or can I blow off these collection agencies?

You may be responsible for the medical bills but unless the credit card bills are in your name as well as hers, you should not be responsible.

Please let me know if I can be of some assistance.

Are you certain that there are absolutely no assets in her name? I would be very cautious in playing this game. There are strategies that you can use to your advantage, but it would take too much time for me to type all of this here. Feel free to call me if you'd like to discuss this further. I won't charge for the phone call.
