No Will Who Are Heirs
My Father in law had no will and recently died. He had two daughters one of which recently died prior to him. The deceased dauthter has two children (grand children to the deceased father) are they entitled to any part of the estate of the grand father.

The two granddaughters are entitled to their mother's share of the estate.
Re: No Will Who Are Heirs
Hello. The law in Illinois makes provisions for
the family members of those entitled to receive
gifts under a will who have themselves died. The
grandchildren will now take that portion of the
gift that their mother would have been entitled
to, had she survived. I assume that they are of
young age. If that is the case, it will be necessary to have a guardian appointed for them through the court system to oversee their gift to the age of 18. Should you have any additional questions, I'll be happy to respond.
