No Will Who Are Heirs

My Father in law had no will and recently died. He had two daughters one of which recently died prior to him. The deceased dauthter has two children (grand children to the deceased father) are they entitled to any part of the estate of the grand father.

The two granddaughters are entitled to their mother's share of the estate.

Hello. The law in Illinois makes provisions for

the family members of those entitled to receive

gifts under a will who have themselves died. The

grandchildren will now take that portion of the

gift that their mother would have been entitled

to, had she survived. I assume that they are of

young age. If that is the case, it will be necessary to have a guardian appointed for them through the court system to oversee their gift to the age of 18. Should you have any additional questions, I'll be happy to respond.
