Legal Question in Workers Comp in Illinois

change of attorney

I was injured at work in 9/00. I obtained an attorney. No payments for medical bills, time off work paid as of March 2001. He was told I was getting a different attorney.

I obtained another attorney on 4/20/01. she sent the former attorny forms for him to sign and requested the file. No response and she sent a follow up -no response. I called him 3 times last week, spoke with him once and said he ''would dig up the forms'' still forms are not signed. Last Friday I spoke with the Head of the firm , said there was nothing he could do - other than leave a note on the lawyer's desk?

Over one month and he wont sign the forms for me to change attorney - what is my recourse?

Re: change of attorney

How come you don't ask this question of the attorney who you have now hired?????? She can file a motion to dismiss the original attorney. You can report the original attorney to the ARDC. That's the Supreme Court in Springfield. They are the watchdog group and disciplinarians for all the lawyers. Good Luck.
