Compensation Settlement

Hurt on job in state of Illinois. I am getting excellent care, had back surgery, removed disk and had to do fusion in of course back. Out of work 3 to 6 months according to doctor. I am getting paid 2/3 of salary. Question: I am being told regardless of outcome I will recieve some sort of monetary reward (settlement), is this true? If true does it depend on what Doctor's evaluation is? 10% disabled (example) or what ever. Is there a way of telling me of past cases of how much money $$$ it could be?

I can't tell you how much money you might receive or if you will receive any money. The reason I can't tell you is that some insurance companies will offer you some money but you'll never know if it is all you should get. Some companies don't make offers and will wait in hopes that you DO NOT get a lawyer. I also can't quote you a dollar amount because I don't know what your wages are, I don't know what your job is, I don't know how old you are, and I don't know exactly how well you will recover from your injury and whether you will be able to return to your job. It would appear that you will be entitled to some compensation based upon your percentage of permanent disability. I would strongly suggest that you consult with and hire an attorney to represent you on this claim. It will not interfere with the treatment or payments which you are currently receiving, and it should not cost you any out-of-pocket expense. Your attorney will be paid a percentage of any lump sum settlement or other recovery made on your behalf at the end of the case. Your attorney will be able to have you examined and rated by a health care provider who is not paid by the employer or the employer's insurance company. This health care provider in many cases renders a more favorable rating than the one given by the company's doctor.
