Legal Question in Workers Comp in Illinois
Hiring a workman's comp lawyer
I had a lawyer who has not sent me paperwork to sign so the claim will be filed with the wc board. Medical bills aren't being paid by my insur because it is wc case. I want to hire another lawyer, but what questions should i ask to make sure they won't sit on my case doing nothing?

Re: Hiring a workman's comp lawyer
Ask them whether or not they are going to sit on your case doing nothing. You can also ask when they will file the paperwork that must be filed. You should tell them that your medical bills are not getting paid.
There is no sure answer or sure question on this. Good and conscientious lawyers (that is most attorneys) tend to take care of their clients.
Incidentally, have you asked your current lawyer why the paperwork has not been filed? Perhaps you don't have a case.I suggest you start by requesting a written response to a letter you send inquiring about the reason(s) why the attorney is sitting on your case doing nothing.
I hope this helps,
