Legal Question in Workers Comp in Illinois
hurt on the job
My husband has carpal tunnel and possible a fracture and needs surgery, he has been working for the same company for 28 years. His company is telling him to use his medical insurance to cover the surgery, but the doctor refuses to see him because it is a work related injury. The office manager will not give him the workmans comp insurance info he needs to seek the proper medical attention needed. I read the the law states the info must be posted in the work place. Any suggestions on how to get this info without my husband losing his job? ....I forgot to mention, it's a family owned business. Brother owns, sister office manager.....

Your husband has a workmen's compensation case.
He is entitled to his medical bills, 2/3rd of his lost wages, and a lump sum settlement as well as other benefits.

The likely reason that the doctor refuses to see your husband is that many health insurance policies have exclusions that do not cover work-related injuries. Under the Workers Compensation Act, the employer is required to carry insurance to cover these types of injuries.
