can a person be forced to resign if theyre on disability?

What do you mean by "forced to resign"? Resignation is not actionable, ever.

If a person is involuntarily terminated, it could be a violation of the ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) or in retaliation for filing a worker's compensation claim. Either way, be sure to discuss all of your facts with an attorney.
