Legal Question in Workers Comp in Illinois

Do I have right to receive Worker's Compensation after I injured myself at the j

It happened almost two weeks ago when I was walking in the stairway at my job and I slip and fell, probably from 1-2 steps. After I landed in the floor I twisted my ankle and sprained it.I didn't seek for medical attention immediately because I thought it wasn't serious. However,I applied first aid,I put ice on it.The next day I went to emergency room because I had too much pain and swelling. The doctor said that I can't work yet because I do a lot of walking on my job. When I told that to my employer he said that I still have to work in order to get paid.He sent me to different department to help them out.I have to do some paperworks in order for me to sit all the time. They also sent me to their doctor and he said so far,I need at least two more weeks to heal from today.I just feel that I'm being betrayed by my employer because I got injured at my job and still have to go to work. And they only pay me from the hours that I stay.I used public transportation and i'm having a lot of problem specially going up and down in stairway. And sometimes I feel like they don't want me there, they said like ''go home you got nothing else to do here.'' I don't know if they mean it or eventhough it was joke, still hurts me.I feel useless and disabled.

The answer to your question is yes and no. If your doctor hasn't restricted you from working all together then the courts say to have to perform "duty made available within your restrictions." If you are working and not receiving your regular wages or working your normal hours then you may be entitled to something called "partial TTD." It sounds like your condition warrants your doctor taking you off work altogether. For this, you should talk to your doctor. If you are required to continue to work, you should hire a lawyer to discuss "partial TTD" and what your restrictions may be. No insurance company is going to do this for you. They have you where they want you - doing part time work at part time wages and saving money that should be spent on benefits for you. Good luck.
