Legal Question in Workers Comp in Illinois

I was recently widowed and my husband had just finished a work comp. arbitration award in which he was to receive weekly checks for his lifetime. Only problem was before the ink was dry he died of a heart attack and now they are saying I get nothing due to the "work comp check for life" statement.

We did not agree to this and kept asking fora lump sum payout and the attorney kept telling us that would not happen. Also there was to be a setaside lump sum for his next arm surgery and it was not listed in the settlement. Do I any rights as a spouse to fight this or was this all in vane after 5 1/2 years due to the attorney not asking for what we wanted.? We never signed off on anything agreeing to this settlement. I am at a loss due to this. The attorney stated we would not lose our home and now I have lost my spouse , possibly my home and quite a large settlement. Any suggestions on where to turn?

You should get a second opinion from a Peoria attorney about your situation. This calls for a face-to-face interview.
