You will most likely receive more money WITH an attorney than without, even after paying attorney's fees.
(In an atypical result, I just settled a shoulder injury case for $225,000 where the offer without an attorney was less than seventeen thousand dollars. Typically the offer is at least 30% below the fair value of the injury, in my opinion.)
If you hired my office, for example, we would charge you 20% of the total recovery for your "permanent injury".
You generally do not have to pay for the recovery of your weekly temporary total disability benefits nor for the recovery of non-disputed medical bills.
Burns with regard to "permanency" can be difficult to assess. Did you have grafts, 3rd degree burns and/or disfigurement?
Let me know and I'll provide you some guidance.

Dear Sirs:
You have a right to recover damages for the scar, as well as any future medical expenses which will be needed to revise the scar.
If there is a limitation in motion or use of the hand, this too is recoverable.
A lawyer can properly and fully protect your rights under the Illinois Workmen's Compensation Act.
Plesae call should you wish to discuss your case. Our firm has twenty-six (26) years of legal experience and has successfully handled many such cases in the past.
