Legal Question in Workers Comp in Illinois

Work injury compensation

I suffered a hernia at my last job. I am currently working a part time job, which I will lose if I take off time to have this surgically corrected. I am still looking for a new full time position. I only have 6 more months before the limitation will not allow me to have this done and the previous employer's insurance will pay for it. What are my options?

Re: Work injury compensation

Your question is not very clear. It doesn't tell me how long you have continued to work with a hernia in need of a surgery. You speak of "limitations." Is this the 3 year statute of limitations? If so, you have worked with that hernia for up to 3 years. If so, you probably don't need the surgery. If you do, then you should have it done and then consider your options for new work and whatever settlement you might get from a Work Comp claim. No matter what, you should consult an attorney experienced in Work Comp immediately .......... and in person.
