Legal Question in Workers Comp in Illinois

Work related injury

I'd met with an attorney in May of 1999 about an injury I believe was job related and upon seeing a doctor he'd concured. Injury, heart damage caused by excessive job stress. An attorney,m recommended by a family member felt I had a case filed letters and paper work,and to date 7/18/2001 I haven't heard any thing since. Is this worth pursuing? I've tried calling the attorney and all I get is I'm busy! Do you have any Recommendations. I've had open heart surgery in 8/2000. Had a stroke during surgery effecting eyesight. Please Advise.

In my book, "I am busy" is not an answer. From the information you have provided me, it is not clear exactly at what stage of process your case may be. You should get in touch with another lawyer and have your case reviewed. Don't drop it just because you current lawyer is too busy!

In my opinion you should wite your current attorney a letter advising him (or her) that you are discharging him (or her) as your attorney, and you will make an appointment to pick up your file, of have it picked up for you. Then, I would promptly take your case to a competent attorney who specializes in worker's compensation cases. There is no excuse for an attorney not keeping his (or her) clients up to date on any pending matter, and there is no excuse for the attorney refusing to talk to you because he (or she) is "busy".
