Sir,

I have a question to you, that whether General Diary Entry by the Police can be taken into account as FIR where only GDE Number and Date is referred in cases.

In my opinion as it is referred for all purposes it can be referred to prove contents of fir but cannot be treated as an FIR.

It can be regarded as FIR, if that Entry discloses information contemplated by section 154 Cr.P.C.

depends upon facts and circumstance,the same can be reffered for all relevant purpose.

however,station diary entry can not be substitue of f.i.r.

FIR prevails however if some contradictions are there you can call for such diary entries to challenge the FIR
