Legal Question in Administrative Law in India
My important documents got stolen on a running train. Based on the last noted station, an FIR was filed at Madhya Pradesh. I obtained this FIR via Fax due to urgency, and need to submit it for Passport at Pune, Maharshtra. Isn't a Fax received FIR a valid copy?

For the purpose of passport, fax copy may not be a valid copy. You should obtain certified copy from concerned police station.
If there is urgency, you may give fax copy to Passport office and request them to act upon the same and give them an affidavit thereby undertaking to produce the FIR copy attested by concerned police station within a particular time frame.
