reg. name change

i prefixed my husband's surname after marriage to my name.my passport also has the same name.we are not living together, neither we got divorced. i dont want to use husband surname before my name now, i want to continue with my father's surname only. is this possible for further official documents and if i buy any assets later on. thks & regds.

yes, u can do that and there is no legal hurdle to that. you may use ur father's name instead of husband. you may move an appropriate application in the passport office in this regard.

Yes, the use of surname is a matter of choice for you. Technically speaking, a woman does not have to forgo her original surname after marriage; but she may just add his surname also .e.g full name of Mrs Indira Gandhi as per documents was : MRS. INDIRA NEHRU GANDHI.

You may make an application to passport authorities also for change of surname.

Yes there is no legal bar to the same.

You may apply with an affidavit if to the Regional Passport Office with new surname.

This is a conventional matter rather legal. No bar to change name, but justification is required.
