Legal Question in Administrative Law in India

I was working in a Govt service and took premature retirement 2 years back. I legally changed my name (through Govt of India Gazette publication) few years before retirement. I was worried that I may not get my pension, if I did not change my name. At hindsight, I feel that I should not have changed my name because of the following problems:

1. Property that I own is in my maiden name

2. Though name has been changed in bank accounts, name cannot be changed in demat account. I have been told that demat account has to be closed and a new account has to be opened up and the shares to be transferred. However mutual fund holdings have to be sold. I would not like to sell all my mutual fund holdings.

I would like to know, whether it is a good option to revert back to my maiden name because of above mentioned problems

Changing name is always accompanied with such problems. So if a person decides to change the name, it should be done in extreme circumstance. I do not know what was the extreme reason for you to change your name. You will have to weigh the pros and cons and see whether the purpose for which you changed your name is more important or the problems you are facing are more grave.
