when in a matter the court finds it appropriate to issue any interim prohibitory order it stays the particular action complained of; this is called stay. when a person aggrieved with any such order brings to the notice of the court that such order is liable to withdrawn or vacated on certain facts/new facts and ground, he does so by moving an application for vacating the stay.
counter affidavit is an affidavit given in support of a reply/return or a return/reply in the form of an affidavit.
