Legal Question in Banking Law in India

Account close problem

Hello,

As the competition is increasing banks are not easily closing bank accounts of customers. I have one account in AXIS bank which I tried closing by submitting the closure form in their dropbox and didnt even made transaction fomr last 1 year. Now I accidently logged in to its internet banking and found the account is still active and they has deducted NON MAINTAINENCE CHARGES several time from it. The current account balance is negative 5000 approx. What to do in this situation, can they legally do anything??? I dont wanna pay for services I have not used and even they didnt closed after submitting closure form. What should I do?

Re: Account close problem

You may write a letter registered letter to the Bank asking for reversal of the charges and a certificate of closure of account. They may reverse all the debit entries and close your account.

give notice to the Bank about closure of the account seeking cancellation of all charges debited. If the Bank does not suitbly respond even after a notice to chairman of the Bank, file a complaint before the Banking Ombudsman
