Legal Question in Banking Law in India

Bank Account Charges Dispute

Dear Sir,

3 years back I opened an current account with a Bank. It was told there will be no charges for 6 months (nothing in writing) and can maintain zero balance account by the marketing person. And it was also told the account become inactive if not operated for 12 months. I opened this with the purpose of availing discount for home loan which was the offer that time.

However now i realised that the bank had charged Rs. 300 as cheque book charges and now it multiplied to more than Rs. 4000. Someway i feel i did'nt used the banks money and the Rs. 300 is charges of cheque book which i got cheated by marketing person by telling there was no charges involved.

Now i believe this account had become dormant account as i did not operate it for more than 3 years.

1. Can you advice anyway i can settle this account by paying minimum amount or no need to pay for this.

2. What could be the possible implication if i ignore this account.

Thanks

Re: Bank Account Charges Dispute

is the account in credit balance or debit balance. If it is in debit balance, you have to tell the Bank by issuing notice that you are not agreeable for the extortionate debit of charges. If the debit balance is not much, ignore the account.
