I suppose that u mean to say You have issued a cheque to your friend and same is bounced . Can your friend take legal action against you

My advise is Negotiable instruments act is amended to make bouncing of cheque punishable . The presumption regarding cheque is that it is issued for consideration & if u want to contest the matter you would be required to prove that same was not issued for consideration . But it is a difficult job . Better you settle the matter at notice stage itself
