Re: banking law

You can add your mother's name as second holder by making a joint application with your mother to the bank, stating that her name be added as second holder with 'either or survivor' or 'former or survivor' and your mother stating that she would be bound by the rules of the bank as to the deposit. In such a case there is no need to cancel the nomination. However in the event of adding your mom's name as second holder, with either or survivor or former or survivor mandate, it is advisable to cancel the nomination after her name is included in the deposit receipt and both of you submitting a variation form naming a nominee agreeable to both of you.
