Legal Question in Banking Law in India
My brother-in-law paid for a tour to an operator some 14 months back. The tour was cancelled and the amount was not returned but after taking a letter of authorisation I approached the tour operator at Kolkata.
I was provided with a cheque dated 17th Mar 2012 for Rs. 19,000/- . With a simple plea that the cheque be deposited after 20th Mar.
The cheque was presented on the 21st Mar for clearance which was dishonoured.
I live in Kanpur my brother-in-law in Mumbai and the tour operator in Kolkata.
On the pretext of the aforesaid situation kindly advise me for legal procedure.

you have already run out of time . You should have issued notice demanding the amount within one month from the date of return. Better approach a local lawyer for filing suit.
