What do you mean by a cheque being returned for reasons '' Amount in Protective Crossing Differs''

Please better ask the Bank what it means. We have not come across such reasons. Perhaps, it could be that the amount in words and figures differ.

Consult the bank as till now in my life i have never seen or heard above remark on bank memo.

I have never come across such an endorsement. It will be better if you write to the bank concerned and request for their clarification.

The plain understanding is that there is not sufficient balance in the account to clear the cheque. thus the cheque has been dishonoured for want of funds.

In any case Section 138 requires you to give a notice to the drawer of cheque before filing a case; and if he does not pay you the money despite notice, you can proceed further with the case.
