Legal Question in Banking Law in India

as my father filed a case for cheque bounce 138 ni act
and one notice given by court to candiate.And he also filed a case on my father that he lost cheque.so my father went to the local p.s.
And clearly explained how he given cheque.
then now i want to know that is these 138 ni act will work effectively in him.
and how much time it will take for judgement and next procedures.
please suggest me.

138 cases will always be effective to punish the accused but not to recover the amount

in case your father genuinely lost the cheque, he may file a petition for quashing the summoning order.
