They Have not responsiblity to intimate if Cheque Signature Difference. I have seen Sevral Times I was Using Citibank Account in Gurgaon, If They Find my Counter Signature or Over writing at my Cheque They are Intimating me & Never Bouncing The Cheque for These Reasons, When Citibank Call to A Customer so whynot Other Bank. Banks are simply making money by Returning the Cheques for Signature Difference. We are Just Ignoring it due to we dont hav etime to Fight.

You may write a legal notice to HDFC bank.

Yes, you may have a valid claim against HDFC particularly when had initially debited your account. but the initial cost of that claim may exceed your claimed amount; it may not be really advisable to initiate legal proceedings for recovering 4,000; you may try your luck with the local District Consumers Forum after first sending a demand notice to the Bank claiming refund and damages.
Re: HDFC Ac Payee Cheque Return for Signature Differernce
send notice to HDFC Bank that their return of your cheques is against law and banking practice and ask them to reverse the entries for the wrong return of the cheques. If they don't relent, make a complaint to Banking Ombudsman, if after a notice to HDFC Bank chairman does not bear any good result. Consult local lawyer and proceed.
