What was the reason for the party to issue cheque in your favour ? Was it to discharge liability towards you ? You can still file a suit for recovery u/o 37 cpc to recover your amount . So dont panic as the limitation to recover your cheque amount is three years .
you can file suit in Civil court for the amount due tp you on the cheques and attach his properties. Take the assistance of a local lawyer and proceed.
