Ask the Bank as to the procedure for claiming the funds. If you are the nominee, you will get it. Otherwise depending upon whether there are other heirs like the children of the deceased and or the mother surviving him, depending upon the amount, the Bank may require succession certificate to be got from court or to be disbursed on affidavit cum indemnity basis. Anyhow, u have to follow the Bank's prescribed procedure.
