Re: liability for cheque bouncing
Under the Negotiable Instruments Act, you will be liable for bouncing of the cheque under Section 138. Section 420 of Indian Penal Code is charged for the offence of cheating. In the former case, it is an offence against the statute.First upon receipt of the summons from the court, you have to engage a lawyer and appear before the Court and seek bail. Second, brief your lawyer about the defence. Given the brief facts, only this much can be said now.

As in every walk of life, honesty is the best policy. Pay up the amount of the cheque and put an end to the prospect of facing trial in a criminal court
