liability for cheque bouncing

i had issued a cheque to othr party for a consideration..the same got bounced...they have charged me with 420..wat is the way out of ths?

wat can i do nw

Under the Negotiable Instruments Act, you will be liable for bouncing of the cheque under Section 138. Section 420 of Indian Penal Code is charged for the offence of cheating. In the former case, it is an offence against the statute.First upon receipt of the summons from the court, you have to engage a lawyer and appear before the Court and seek bail. Second, brief your lawyer about the defence. Given the brief facts, only this much can be said now.
