money paid by cash and he dropped cheque and trying to take action

sir i have given cheque to one person for surity but paid amount in cash but i left cheque with him without taking back. But i have cancelled that cheques in banks. stating that paid in cash. But now problem is the person who is fraud has deposited that cheque again and now asing for some money or else he will put case on me. so wht action should i take and how can i prove my self that was paid by cash. Reply As soon as possible

If you have taken receipt from him after paying cash then don't worry.

that would depend upon if you have had the receipt taken from the person for the cash you had paid.

You are required to establish the fact being stated by you by bringing in sufficient cogent evidence.

If you have no evidence of having made the payment, the payee may claim the cheque amount.
