Negotiable instruments act, 1881
In case of a dishonour of a cheque can an action under both, the civil and criminal law be initiated against the drawer of the cheque?
if yes, then what are the relevent provisions under which it can be done and has the appex court has given any verdict on the same?

yes you can proceed simultaenously under civil as well as criminal . It is settled law . Under criminal case you seek punishment and fine and under civil law you seek recovery
