Legal Question in Banking Law in India
A party issued a cheque for Rs 25000.00 and the cheque got returned as there were some alterations on the cheque which were not properly authenticated by them .Kindly advise what legal action can be done ,as they have doing this delibrately to delay the payment

You can ask the drawer to issue a fresh cheque in proper form. If he fails to do so within the time stipulated by you, you can only sue him in civil court on the original cause of action giving rise to his liability to you for the amount.

You may also take appropriate action under the Negotiable Instruments Act by first raising a demand upon him; and later by filing criminal complaint in the court.
