Payment through bank from other state

Iam a resident of Chennai and I have a current account of an incorporated company for which iam the Managing Director in Union Bank of India, chennai. I had been to Ajmer where i ran short of money. I went to the branch of union bank of india at adarsh nagar and requested them since i did not carry the cheque book, to issue a loose leaf so that i can withdraw Rs.10000.00 from my account. My account had the sufficient balance of 190000 to my credit. I displayed my ID's and still the manager refused and was very rude to me as if i felt that iam begging in front of him and by saying that i should have a cheque leaf then only i can withdraw. By this act i have to return to chennai with huge setback to me and family. plaese guide me what i have to do i had lodged an online complaint but so far i have not received any reply.

If there is a contractual obligation by the Bank to supply you a cheque / loose leaf at any branch other than that where you maintain your account, it may constitute "deficiency of service" and you may claim damages by filing a complaint in the consumer forum.

It is not known whether the terms of core banking given to you allow you to have access for loose leaf cheque from any branch of the Bank in India. Normally no such term would be there.

You can only demand loose leaf cheque only at the branch where you have your account. You cannot demand the same as a matter of right from any branch of the bank other than the one where you have your account. We don't think you have a case.

You can lodge a compliant against the bank before the consumer forum for compensation. However, you may have to check the jurisdiction for the same because it is likley that the jursidiction would be Ajmer.

I suggest you consult a local advocate for the jurisdiction issue.
