Legal Question in Banking Law in India
We have received a cheque in which in date column, date is written as 16 agradhyan(in hindi), 1932. Now our bank is saying that they cannot pass the cheque. Please guide whether the bank can pass the cheque or whether their action of rejection of cheque is correct. Please revert as our client is saying that bank is wrong in rejecting the cheque and he will not modify the date on cheque.

the date should be of gregorian calendar. If the date mentioned on the cheque is according to Government of India national year, month etc., the bank cannot refuse to pay the cheque, if it is presented within six months from the date of the cheque.
