yes you can claim an interst on the amount deposited! but have you checked if the amount was credited to your account and that you requested for closure of account in writing?

Re: refund of my amount

You must have to ask for refund of your amount and if you donot get the amount you may proceed against bank under consumer protection Act.

Re: refund of my amount

your question is not clear. There is no such thing as "debit account". Did you mean "Debit Card" or for opening some kind of current or savings bank account. From the incomplete facts, I infer that you have made a deposit of Rs.5200/- as a prelude of availing some personal loan. If the account has been opened, you write to the Bank to close the account and refund the amount. Even if the account is not opened as the Bank was not satisfied about KYC (Know your Customer) preliminaries like address verification etc., You can request the Bank to return the amount. If it is a savings account you can claim interest. Otherwise, in your request you demand interest as per Interest Act. If the Bank does not return the amount within the time specified by you, You can prefer a complaint to the Banking Ombudsman of the State in whose jurisdiction you have made the deposit. You can also make an online complaint. For details and procedure, access RBI.gov.in and get the details. No need to go in for consumer forum as that would only add to your expenses and a drag on time.
