Legal Question in Banking Law in India
Stop payment of cheque:
I gave a cheque amouning Rs.15000/- dated 20/06/2012 on 20/03/2012 to my builder for doing some extra work pending in my flat but now he denied to do that pending works as I dont have any signed document in written.Can I make a stop payment of the said cheque and Is it punsihable ??

You can stop the payment and it is not at all punishable. To make you liable, there should be something due and as he did not do anything, there is nothing payable by you, if i understood correctly
