Was a power of attorney, which was executed and authenticated by the Notary in Melbourne for the contract work in India, is required to be legalised by the representative of Indian Embassy in that country? If yes, under what provision?

The executor of the power of attorney lives in Melbourne then this document has to be attested by Indian High Commission in Australia which has to be filed in India.
